The story
Zum Storchen, at Lange Straße 24 in Waldkirch, is a hotel restaurant with a seasonal Baden kitchen. The Schlemmer Atlas gave it 2.5 Kochlöffel in 2026, and the menu still draws on Black Forest produce and country cooking.
The kitchen works with regional, seasonal ingredients from local suppliers. Michelin lists the restaurant as Recommended for 2026. Its own description calls the food modern cooking with roots in the region, served without fuss.
Starters include beef tartare under an onion crumble with warm potato foam, and salmon trout cured and set on smoked fish mousse. Main courses range from venison roulade with porcini filling and house quark dumplings to pink roasted beef rib under a horseradish crust. Pork cordon bleu, filled with Münster cheese and smoked ham, comes with fried potatoes and lingonberries. Desserts include a chocolate crème brûlée with orange salad and Grand Marnier ice cream.
The restaurant sits inside a hotel with rooms and apartments, where warm wooden floors and natural materials set a calm tone. Seminars and celebrations take place in the Storchen-Werkstatt, a separate event room. Dogs are welcome if they lie quietly under the table, and outdoor seating is available.
