The story
Speisemeisterei Burgthalschenke, at Untere Hauptstraße 4 in Vöhringen, serves Swabian and Bavarian cooking that earned a 2026 Michelin Bib Gourmand for good quality, good value cooking.
Karl Großhammer leads the kitchen as Küchenmeister, and the menu draws on regional produce. Allgäu beef appears in two forms: a Rostbraten served with onions and spätzle from the board, and a rump steak with herb butter. The kitchen also prepares a Wiener Kalbsrückenschnitzel with cranberries and parsley potatoes.
Fried king prawns come with a piquant sauce, vegetables and basmati rice. For a lighter choice, stuffed peppers with couscous are offered alongside the cheese spätzle with onions. The lunch menu, as the Schlemmer Atlas notes, offers two or three regional courses, and a strong spirit can follow.
Guests can choose the Rote Zimmer, the Mozartstube, the gallery or the rustic cellar, and there is outdoor seating when the weather allows. Ariane Kast Großhammer runs the restaurant. One recent guest summed up the visit as very good food at fair prices, with generous portions and service that brought them back.
