The story
Uwe & Uli in Usingen runs a classic French and International kitchen at Marktplatz 21, 61250 Usingen, and the Michelin Guide lists it as Recommended for 2026. Chef Uwe Weber and managing director Ulrich Spranger host the room together, serving house classics à la carte and a chef's menu of four to seven courses.
Weber's kitchen relies on dishes that guests order again. The homemade veal and Handkäse caraway sausage comes with green sauce mustard, sauerkraut and bacon bread. The braised artichoke arrives with aioli and breadsticks. In season, homemade tagliolini with truffle joins the menu.
The tasting menu can open with a calf's head praline, Waldorf salad and Granny Smith apple. A scallop with champagne tripe and truffle follows as an intermezzo. Aged cheeses are supplied by Bernard Antony. The wine list offers a solid range at reasonable prices from European growing regions, with a few bottles from overseas.
The Schlemmer Atlas describes the building as more than 300 years old, a half-timbered house with thick wooden beams. The dining room is bright and airy, and it stays cosy under those beams. In summer, an outdoor seating area opens. The salon seats up to 40 guests at round tables, which suits private celebrations and business meetings.
