The story
Forsthaus Ilkahöhe sits at Oberzeismering 2 in Tutzing, a Bavarian restaurant with a panoramic view over Lake Starnberg. The Schlemmer Atlas awarded it two Kochlöffel in 2026.
The kitchen works with fresh, seasonal ingredients and writes its menu across two registers: old Bavarian dishes and lighter, modern ones. Spinach dumplings with tomato and Parmesan and Wiener schnitzel represent the traditional side. Ceviche shows the more creative one. Michelin lists the house as Recommended for 2026.
The current card includes ceviche of Scottish wild salmon with mango, coriander and chili. Beef tartare is cut from Bavarian filet and served with radish and curry mayonnaise. Lamb curry with Moroccan spices and Breton sea bass with champagne cabbage and barley round out the mains. The range is wider than the Bavarian label suggests.
Tables outside, on the terrace and in the beer garden, look out over greenery. When the weather is fine in colder months, a winter version of the beer garden opens in the self-service coffee bar. The house can also be booked exclusively for weddings and private celebrations, and guest notes on the site often single out the service.
Aperitifs run from a Negroni Sbagliato to Crémant, and the wine list includes Cantina Terlan from South Tyrol and Weingut Fürst from Franken, with non-alcoholic pairings as well. Dessert might be Rote Grütze with unbaked cheesecake, or a Charlotte chocolat with Grand Marnier parfait. Digestifs include Calvados and several grappas.
