The story
Berghotel Wiedener Eck sits at Oberwieden 15 in Wieden (Todtnau), on a Black Forest pass, and serves country cooking built around game. The Schlemmer Atlas gave it two Kochlöffel in 2026.
Lorenz Wissler is hotel owner and head chef, and he runs the house with his wife Marie as the fourth generation of the family. He trained and worked in several restaurants, some of them starred, before settling on regional produce. The kitchen draws on the family's 1,200-hectare hunting ground around the hotel, so roe deer, chamois and wild boar often arrive fresh from nearby.
Saddle of venison is the house classic. Wild boar ham and bacon come from the hotel's own smokehouse. In the colder months the menu adds cheese fondue.
The evening menu changes daily and costs 48 euros with a choice of main course (38 euros for overnight guests). Courses can also be ordered singly, with last orders at 19:45. The Schlemmer Atlas also notes the homemade cakes and tarts.
The hotel has two rooms for eating, one rustic and one looking out over the valley. Michelin lists the address as Recommended for 2026. After dinner, the indoor pool and sauna are a short walk away for hotel guests.
