The story
Silberdistel, at Sonnenalp 1 in Ofterschwang near Sonthofen, holds one Michelin star for 2026. The gourmet restaurant inside the Sonnenalp Resort serves a modern fusion kitchen alongside Bavarian and French classics.
Chef Florian Wagenbach moves between classic and international fusion cooking. The Weitblick menu runs on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, with up to seven courses. The Klassiker à la carte appears on Fridays and Sundays.
The Weitblick menu includes house-raised chicken in a Tikka Masala style, served with pressed cheese dumplings, onions and mushrooms. On the Klassiker menu, guests can order duck liver with truffle jus or lobster bisque, followed by whole turbot or tournedos of Allgäu heifer beef.
The restaurant sits on the fourth floor, with a living-room feel and views of the Allgäu Alps. Its modern Alpine design uses green tones, linen, wood and stone walls. The cellar holds 450 wines, and a private label was developed with Austrian winemaker Bertold Salomon. Staff often name their own favorite bottles when recommending a pairing.
