The story
Hasenklee, at Hof Grothues-Potthoff 4 in Senden, serves modern cuisine from a Münsterland farm. The Michelin Guide listed it as Recommended in 2026.
The farm has stayed in the same family for almost 800 years, and the menu leans on its own produce. Expect a Bauernpfanne with sour cucumber relish, potato pancakes with apple sauce or with cured salmon and mustard-dill sauce, and a vegan lentil Bolognese with pasta. Soups arrive with house-baked bread. The We're Smart Green Guide gave the kitchen two Radishes in 2026.
Just inside the entrance, cakes and tarts from the farm's own pastry shop fill the counter. A new Torte of the month appears regularly (a dome cake in March 2026). The drinks list features the farm's apple juices, blended with pear, elderflower, sour cherry or raspberry. The house sparkling wine, Hofcuvée Grothues brut, comes from Württemberg.
The café is furnished in country-house style over two floors, with small corners upstairs and a bright conservatory below. From the conservatory you step onto a terrace, and two more terraces sit in a sheltered beer-garden setting or on the farmyard itself. Two private rooms host groups: one for up to 60 guests, and a ground-floor room with its conservatory for up to 100.
