The story
Restaurant Altes Zollhaus runs a fusion kitchen in Schillig, at Boysenstr. 18, 25980 Sylt, and earned two Kochlöffel in the Schlemmer Atlas 2026. Many dishes carry an Asian touch, alongside Italian and Mediterranean influences.
The kitchen draws on Austrian roots, reinterpreted with a modern hand. North Sea produce finds its way onto the plate. The cooking favours clear flavours and high-quality ingredients, with a curiosity that looks beyond the usual repertoire.
The building is a historic brick house with a covered outdoor area, about 500 metres from the beach. Guests tend to settle in for a long meal and good conversation, with a breeze off the North Sea never far away.
