The story
Landgasthof Brechtmann, at Hackendohrredder 9 in Scharbeutz, is a North German country inn that earned 2 Kochlöffel from the Schlemmer Atlas in 2026. The house is in the village of Schürsdorf, a few kilometers from the Baltic beach.
Duck is the reason people drive out here. The Schlemmer Atlas singles out the oven-roasted duck dishes, which appear in numerous variations. The restaurant's own words point to the crispy Flugente (a roasted duck) and further duck specialties, and a local saying on the website claims the best ducks are found in Schürsdorf. There is also an Ente-to-go option for taking it home.
The kitchen leans on regional dishes, and the North German cooking sits alongside a wine list that the house describes as drawn from around the world. Seasonal menus are published on the website, including a summer card, so the choice shifts through the year.
The restaurant is run by the Berger family. Its position between inland fields and the seaside resort shapes the atmosphere, with views across woods and meadows from the dining room. It feels like a village inn rather than a resort restaurant.
