The story
Salt & Silver am Meer, at Zum Böhler Strand in Sankt Peter-Ording, is a grill restaurant that earned a Michelin Recommended mention for 2026. The kitchen cooks over open fire with Mediterranean and world cuisine influences, and the dining room sits on stilts above the Wadden Sea.
Dishes come off the grill crisp and smoky. The produce is sourced close by: cattle and lamb that graze the salt marshes of the Eiderstedt peninsula, mussels and oysters from the North Sea, and vegetarian plates from farms in the surrounding countryside. Fish sits at the center of the menu, as the Schlemmer Atlas, which awards 2 Kochlöffel for 2026, notes.
The building stands about eight meters up on stilts, with wide views across the water. After 44 years as a family business, the legendary stilt house now carries the Salt & Silver look, with a relaxed beach bar mood. The team describes the light on the terrace as breathtaking.
The wines are mostly German, often organic and unfiltered. The drink list is extensive, with aperitif drinks alongside the wine selection.
