The story
Gasthof Berghof - Ursprung is a Franconian cooking restaurant in Rugendorf, at Wartenfels 85, 95355 Presseck, Germany. The Michelin Bib Gourmand (2026) recognises its good quality, good value cooking.
Claudia and Alexander Schütz now run the Berghof in its fourth generation. The kitchen describes its approach as tradition meeting modern: regional produce, honest house-made food, and dishes that follow the season. Alexander Schütz has also published a cookbook, "Mein fränkisches Craftfutter," and presents the regional TV cooking show "Einfach Lecker."
On Sundays and public holidays, the midday menu offers Franconian roast dishes alongside a three-course menu. The Schlemmer Atlas describes a small and a large menu built around carp, duck or game, depending on the season and what is available.
The interior is stylish but unfussy, and guests are welcome to linger over a meal. Outdoor seating and a beer garden open in summer, where dogs are allowed, though not indoors. A private room, Tonis, can be extended for up to 60 guests, suited to company events, christenings, weddings and birthdays. The team helps with menu and wine choices, and they recommend arranging a consultation beforehand.
