The story
Reichsküchenmeister stands at Kirchplatz 8 in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, a Franconian restaurant in a patrician house from the 12th century. The Schlemmer Atlas awarded it 1.5 Kochlöffel in 2026.
The kitchen works à la carte with fresh ingredients, from Franconian home cooking to finer plates. The Schlemmer Atlas singles out good regional dishes and homemade cakes. The family has run the house since 1920.
The Lupoldstube has a historic tiled stove and wood-paneled walls. In the Korkenzieherstübchen, the crest of the Held and Stürzel families hangs beside a collection of antique corkscrews. Outside, an old chestnut and linden trees shade the beer garden. The Weinstube Löchle pours Franconian wines.
