The story
Landgasthof Adler in Reutlingen is a family-run inn serving Swabian and Badische dishes, rated 2.5 Kochlöffel in the Schlemmer Atlas 2026. The house traces its history to 1770 and is still run by the Schäfer family.
The Schäfer family has run the inn for five generations, and Tim and Yvonne Schäfer have led it since 2003. The kitchen cooks with seasonal produce in the Swabian tradition, served with a personal welcome. Tim Schäfer's crepinette of veal fillet on chanterelle ragout was featured in the Reutlinger Wochenblatt, and recipes from the house have appeared in the Club der Köche collection.
The inn sits on a hill above the Fils Valley. The Schlemmer Atlas lists 2 Kochlöffel for the establishment, which has 20 guest rooms and a campsite. Over the decades the building grew around the original tavern, with the first guest rooms and a bowling alley added after 1972. The hotel Schäfer's was rebuilt in 2017.
