The story
Heldmann & Herzhaft serves classic cuisine at Brüderstraße 56 in Remscheid, and the Schlemmer Atlas awarded it three Kochlöffel in 2026.
The restaurant occupies the Böker Villa, a 19th-century industrialist's house surrounded by greenery. Guests eat beneath stucco ceilings. Petra and Ulrich Heldmann arrived in July 1995 and have now run the place for more than 25 years.
The kitchen turns out fresh country cooking with a regional accent and no fuss, and the Heldmanns describe their service as relaxed and attentive. Lunch specials rotate daily, and the Michelin Guide lists the house as Recommended for 2026. Vegetarian and vegan guests, or anyone with allergies, are asked to mention it when booking.
