The story
Landhaus Drei Raben, at Reeserward 5 in Rees am Rhein, served country cooking with a Mediterranean streak beside Lake Mahnen. The Michelin Guide lists it as Recommended for 2026.
The menu moved between regional comfort and southern Europe. Starters included langoustine foam soup and South Tyrolean spinach dumplings with sage sauce and Parmesan. Mains ran from involtini of veal, filled Mediterranean-style and served with chanterelles and taglierini, to a Thai curry of corn-fed chicken with coconut milk and ginger. A rib-eye of Angus beef came with truffle butter and potato gratin.
Sweet courses included crème brûlée, a chocolate-ginger parfait with spiced plums, and ice cream made in-house without cream. On Sundays and public holidays the house also worked as a café, with home-baked cakes and apple strudel in the afternoon.
The estate stands on the shore of Lake Mahnen, close to the Rhine and opposite the marina. The Schlemmer Atlas awarded 1.5 Kochlöffel in 2026 and singled out the cooking's southern European flair. Outdoor seating and parking came with the setting.
Andreas and Greta Koep ran the restaurant for three decades. According to the restaurant's website, they closed it on 21 December 2025 and retired.
