The story
Restaurant LUMI, at Am Bostalsee 1 in Nohfelden, runs a world cuisine kitchen built on regional produce. The Schlemmer Atlas gave it 2 Kochlöffel in 2026.
Chef Daniel Schöfisch leads a team of around 45 people from 12 nations. The menu pairs regional products with international influences, sometimes subtle and sometimes surprising. Suppliers are local farmers and producers, along with carefully chosen organic products. His own advice is to cook by feel and not hold too tightly to the small print.
The Schlemmer Atlas singles out turbot fillet, pork cheeks and trout as the products that become memorable plates here. Herbs are picked by hand in the hotel's own garden. Fermenting, smoking and pickling feature in the cooking, and light vegetable sauces nod to the Celtic heritage of the area. Bread, pastry and dessert all come from the in-house bakery and patisserie.
The wooden terrace sits directly on the lake, and the guide calls the view worth the trip alone. At midday there is a small lunch menu, and in the evening guests choose between à la carte and a set menu. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free options are offered from breakfast to dinner.
