The story
Weinhaus Neuner sits at Herzogspitalstraße 8 in Munich, where the kitchen cooks Bavarian and Austrian dishes in a protected 15th-century building. Michelin lists the house as Recommended for 2026, and it has been a wine house in this spot for 130 years.
Benjamin Kunz changes the menu often, moving between contemporary plates and classic Austrian and Bavarian cooking. The offering spans set menus and à la carte, so guests can build a meal around a single course or a full evening.
Trout carpaccio arrives with radish and beer vinaigrette, and zander fillet comes skin-side crisp with spinach, horseradish and caviar beurre blanc. The Bavarian young beef tartare is served with a quail egg, grilled rye bread and truffle. Historic cross vaults, dark wood paneling and cast-iron candelabras frame the room, and the Schlemmer Atlas awarded it 3 Kochlöffel for 2026. For dessert, the kaiserschmarrn is baked to order with raisins, almonds, vanilla ice cream and plum compote.
The wine list holds roughly 300 selections, and the dessert pours include a Madeira Bual and a Port. Creaking floorboards and rustic chandeliers add to the sense of an old house that still runs as a working restaurant.
