The story
Vinaiolo is an Italian restaurant at Steinstraße 42 in Munich, listed as Michelin Recommended in 2026. The name means wine merchant in Italian, and the house calls itself an osteria con cucina, with a kitchen built on regional dishes from Venice, Friuli and Campania.
Chef Marco Pizzolato and his team cook classic Italian food with less familiar regional dishes. The kitchen focuses on Venetian, Friulian and Campanian recipes rather than the Italian standards found on most menus.
Starters include beef fillet tartare with egg yolk, capers and anchovies, and marinated raw amberjack with braised artichokes. Pasta choices run from oven-baked veal cannelloni with black truffle to beetroot tortelli with brown butter, poppy seeds and Bleu d'Aosta. Mains include seared red tuna with artichokes, seabass grilled or baked in salt for two, and a Milanese-style pink veal chop.
The dining room is furnished with antique pieces and glass display cabinets filled with wine bottles. The wine list is a central part of the evening, and the Gambero Rosso guide awarded Vinaiolo one fork in 2024. A four-course evening menu is offered at 78 € per person, and a weekday business lunch changes daily from the blackboard.
