The story
Il Borgo, at Georgenstr. 144 in Munich's Schwabing district, is a modern Italian restaurant that the Michelin Guide recommended for 2026. The kitchen pairs Italian cooking with Mediterranean produce, and the wine list is a central part of the evening.
The Italian kitchen here changes with the market, and ingredients are bought fresh each day. The evening tasting menu runs five courses and is rebuilt daily, so the menu on one visit may differ from the next. The Schlemmer Atlas gives the restaurant 2.5 spoons and notes that the house has served guests since 1989.
The dining room seats up to 50 guests and feels exclusive without being formal. The team welcomes new visitors with the attention usually reserved for regulars. A midday service runs Tuesday to Friday, suited to business meetings or a slow break in the day.
Wine has its own menu sections for white and red bottles, and the house hosts exclusive wine tastings alongside its gourmet events. The Gambero Rosso guide awarded the restaurant two forks in 2025.
