The story
Sternenschanz is a country cooking restaurant at Gottlob-Linck-Straße 2 in Ötisheim, near Mühlacker, and it holds a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026. The Gasthof has been run by the same family since it was built in 1907 as a brewery inn, now in its third generation.
The kitchen cooks with what the season brings, and with regional produce where it can be sourced. Maultaschen appear in several forms: in a clear beef broth, marinated over leaf salad, or filled with salmon and served with spinach and saffron sauce. Heartier plates include Schwäbischer Zwiebelrostbraten with pan-fried potatoes and a Wiener Schnitzel made from veal loin. The Schlemmer Atlas awards it 2.5 Kochlöffel, and its location across from the train station makes it an easy stop.
The smaller Wirtsstube feels cozy, while the newer rooms are larger and more modern. The whole house can host events for up to 120 guests, from weddings to confirmations. In warm months, the garden suits an unhurried dinner or an aperitif outdoors, and private dining and outdoor seating are both offered.
The Schwarzwaldbecher layers vanilla and chocolate ice cream with sour cherries and kirsch, finished with cream. Creme brûlée comes with fresh fruit and sorbet, and the lebkuchen parfait is served with warm sour cherries.
