The story
Forsthaus am Möhnesee serves Westphalian cooking at Südufer 28 in Möhnesee, and the Schlemmer Atlas awarded it 1 Kochlöffel in 2026. The house sits on the south shore of Lake Möhne, with the water in view from the table.
The restaurant describes its food as traditional cooking reworked with selected ingredients and a regional connection. Old favorites share the menu with fresher ideas. The Schlemmer Atlas notes hearty meals such as schnitzel dishes, trout à la meunière and a salad plate, plus a small selection of wines.
Dining happens in the restaurant itself or on the covered, heated lake terrace, which makes the shoreline usable beyond the warm months. A seasonal summer menu is offered as well.
Forsthaus is also a hotel, and guest rooms look out over the Möhnesee. Each has its own bathroom, and some include a small dining and seating area. The café next door is known for homemade cakes and tarts.
