The story
Kurlbaum, at Burgstraße 7 in Moers, is a bistro and classic kitchen that has been cooking since 1986 and earned a Michelin Recommended listing for 2026. The menu moves between Mediterranean and Fusion ideas, with set menus for lunch and dinner.
The monthly menu changes with the season and is priced at 79 euros. Recent dishes include marinated halibut with saffron chicory and apple vinaigrette, and a sauerbraten of beef cheek with sauerkraut and potato purée. The vegetarian menu, at 69 euros, offers a buckwheat crêpe with leek and a creamy polenta with mushrooms and spinach. Cheese comes from the Tölzer Kasladen and is served with cranberry and apple compote.
The dining rooms were designed by Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Clara Saal and aim for a modern, timelessly elegant look. The bistro occupies the ground floor, and the Schlemmer Atlas gave the restaurant 2.5 Kochlöffel for 2026. The cellar holds around 200 bottles, and the house offers a short list of open wines by the glass.
