The story
Restaurant Maimühle in Merzig, Germany, runs a Moselle Franconian kitchen at Bahnhofstr. 100, 66706 Perl, beside the Moselle with Luxembourg across the water. The Schlemmer Atlas awarded it 2 Kochlöffel (cooking spoons) in 2026 for its regional dishes and its place as a stop for both overnight guests and diners.
The Gaststube is the cosy room for classic regional cooking. The Mühlenwirtschaft sits in a former wine-press house, the Kelterhaus, and suits families or walkers coming off a trail. Both kitchens cook with local produce, mixing traditional dishes with more modern ones.
In August 2026 the house hosts a Slowfood Fischtime, with trout, salmon trout and char from the Forellengut Rosengarten at the centre of the menu. The fish weeks run from 14 to 30 August.
The wine list offers more than 100 regional and international bottles, and the same wines can be bought in the on-site Vinothek. Sommelier Frederik Theis leads tastings and wine hikes through the vineyards.
