The story
Restaurant Böttgerstube in Meissen serves Saxon cuisine and regional dishes at Domplatz 11, 01662 Meissen. The Schlemmer Atlas gave it 1.5 Kochlöffel in 2026. The restaurant sits above the rooftops of the town, with a view across Meissen and the Elbe Valley.
The kitchen cooks regional food, from hearty traditional plates to seasonal international dishes. Saxon sauerbraten and beef tartare appear on the menu, alongside burgers and fried chicken. Fish comes from the Moritzburg pond farm, herbs and vegetables from the in-house gardener, and game from local hunters.
The main dining room has white tablecloths and large windows facing the valley. Meals are served on Meissen porcelain, known as "Weißes Gold." The Burggrafenstube has painted ceilings and chandeliers, and the Pavillon has floor-to-ceiling glass with a wide outlook over the town.
