The story
Restaurant Mühlenhof stands at Oberweierer Hauptstraße 33 in Friesenheim, near Lahr, and cooks Badische country food inside a family-run Landhotel. The Michelin Guide listed it as Recommended in 2026.
The kitchen works to the season and to what the market offers that week. The Schlemmer Atlas awarded 2.5 Kochlöffel in 2026 and described a charming country hotel south of Offenburg, with a monthly menu that is thoroughly Badisch. The March 2026 edition opens with a Black Forest cream cheese terrine with small spring greens, followed by homemade potato gnocchi with the first wild garlic. Four courses cost €50.
The main course comes as a choice. One option is a Badischer Fischteller with Riesling cream and ribbon noodles. The other is a Kaiserstühler veal back steak with morel sauce and potato balls, and both arrive with market vegetables. Dessert is pistachio ice cream with rhubarb crumble and white chocolate mousse.
On weekdays a set lunch menu is offered while supplies last, and takeaway is available for eating at home. The wine list leans on bottles from the Ortenau wine region. The dining rooms suit a small dinner as well as a large family celebration, and there is outdoor seating when the weather allows.
