The story
Gasthaus Faust, at Kirchplatz 10 in Knittlingen, is a German restaurant recognised with 1,5 Kochlöffel in the Schlemmer Atlas 2026. The restaurant and guesthouse share a restored half-timbered building in the old town, and the dining room sits within a German kitchen that leans on seasonal and regional ingredients.
The guesthouse kitchen is known for cordon bleu, rabbit leg and roast beef with onions. The menu changes with the seasons, and the house prepares its specialities fresh, with a focus on detail. Wines are chosen with care, and guests can enjoy them inside or on the terrace when the weather allows.
The building is a protected half-timbered house that was renovated over several years with attention to its historic character. A large outdoor terrace extends the restaurant in summer. The hotel has eight guest rooms, and three apartments sit in the neighbouring half-timbered house, decorated in warm colours and natural materials.
