The story
Gutshof Andres sits at Pettstadt 1 in Kirchlauter, where the Franconian kitchen earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026, recognised for good quality, good value cooking. The restaurant serves seasonal German dishes inside a heritage timber-framed estate, and much of its pantry is produced on the farm.
The Andres family has farmed this land for more than 300 years and has run hospitality here for nearly 200. The estate still makes many of its own products, from sausage and ham to jams, bread, and apple juice. Fish is raised in the surrounding ponds, and cakes and loaves come from a traditional wood-fired oven.
The Schlemmer Atlas singles out a five-course menu as a highlight, and it has earned 2.5 Kochlöffel for 2026. On Friday and Saturday afternoons, the kitchen serves coffee with Blechkuchen, homemade bratwurst, Gutshof ham, or a cheese selection. The bratwurst and ham are the estate's own, so the cured and smoked flavours taste distinctly local.
The historic Gaststube keeps its original 1920s fittings and wood panelling, while the bright pavilion offers a lighter room. In warmer months, guests sit in the beer garden beside the lake. The estate distillery produces fine fruit brandies, and the drinks list also includes apple must, quince and apple sparkling wine, and fruity liqueurs.
