The story
Landgasthof Café Gut Ahe is a German country inn at Ahe 1 in Kirchhundem, where the kitchen cooks Sauerland regional dishes and the Schlemmer Atlas awarded it 1,5 Kochlöffel for 2026.
Tomas Bruchmüller leads the kitchen, which serves traditional, hearty dishes from the Sauerland. The house makes much of its own food, including sausages and smoked products from its own sausage-making and smokehouse. The menu changes with the seasons.
The kitchen's Saturday tip is a homemade Eintopf, a hearty German stew. The farmhouse café is known for its homemade cakes. The restaurant is also tagged for vegan and vegetarian guests.
The inn sits in a wooded, secluded spot that guests describe as quiet. Its Hofscheune, a converted farm barn, has been an outpost of the Kirchhundem registry office since 2021 and hosts weddings. Families can use the play equipment, swimming pond, table tennis and giant chess on the grounds.
