The story
Ambiente Italiano in Kelsterbach serves Italian and Mediterranean cooking at Staufenstraße 16, and the Michelin Guide lists it as Recommended for 2026. The restaurant occupies the Alte Oberförsterei, a former forestry office that houses a gourmet restaurant and a more casual trattoria.
Pedro Fernandes leads the kitchen, and his team cooks in a creative, innovative and technically skilled way. Lunch and dinner range from fresh pasta and pizza to multi-course menus. The Schlemmer Atlas awards the restaurant 2.5 Kochlöffel and describes a surprise menu of up to seven courses, with an optional wine pairing.
The building was completed in 1902 as a forestry office. A renovation in 2010 and 2011 modernised the former dining rooms and added a winter garden and a summer terrace. Guests in the sunlit winter garden and on the terrace look out over the Main river, where the kitchen serves lighter Mediterranean dishes in the summer greenery. The trattoria serves classic Italian cuisine, and the house seats around 100 guests, a setting suited to business lunches and company gatherings.
