The story
Gasthaus Lege, at Engenser Straße 2 in Burgwedel, is a family-run inn serving classic cuisine, and in 2026 the Schlemmer Atlas awarded it 3 Kochlöffel. The house carries over 100 years of tradition. The Michelin Guide lists it as Recommended for the same year.
Claudia and Hinrich Schulze run the inn and put fresh seasonal ingredients and regional products at the center of what they cook. Lake trout, venison ragout and beef tenderloin are the dishes the Schlemmer Atlas singles out. The dining room is elegant, and in summer the same menu moves out to the garden.
The Menü Gaumenfreude runs from three courses at €75 to seven at €119. A seven-course run might open with sea bream tartare, fennel and grapefruit, then move to a game consommé with truffle Flädle. Skrei fillet and scallop with pork knuckle and pea follow. Beef tenderloin comes with tarragon mustard and Parmesan dumplings, and passion fruit mousse with tonka bean ice cream closes the meal.
Vegetarian guests get their own menu, Gartenliebe, priced from €64 for three courses to €108 for seven. Sorrel soup with green pepper and braised chicory with orange and hazelnut sit alongside a herb windbeutel with tree mushrooms. Dessert is caramelized banana with caramel mousse and long pepper ice cream. Salmon can be added for €11.
Special dinners appear on the calendar through the year. In March 2026 a six-course 1980s menu, priced at €115 with aperitif, revisits German cooking of that decade. Each course is inspired by a chef of the era, among them Eckart Witzigmann and Heinz Winkler. Easter brings its own fish and festive menus.
