The story
Bernhardhof in Herrsching am Ammersee serves a contemporary kitchen from Andechser Straße 32 in Andechs, and the Michelin Guide listed it as Recommended in 2026. The hotel sits at the foot of Andechs Monastery, about 40 minutes by car from Munich.
Julian Holzinger, 27, returned to the family hotel after his training and several years in star-rated kitchens. He reworks classic dishes and changes the menu with the seasons. Most ingredients are local, and each menu is paired with wines selected for it.
The Schlemmer Atlas awarded the Bernhardhof two Kochlöffel for 2026 and highlights a four-course menu. Oma Rosi bakes the cakes daily from recipes that are decades old, without additives and with less sugar. Coffee comes from the Dinzler roastery and milk from the Andechser Biomolkerei, pulled on an Italian espresso machine.
The restaurant has soft, atmospheric lighting and set tables. The Schlemmer Atlas describes a rustic-modern setting. The hotel also offers suites for guests who want to stay overnight.
