The story
Gasthof Alte Post in Holzkirchen serves Bavarian cuisine at Marktplatz 10a, 83607 Holzkirchen. The Schlemmer Atlas 2026 gave the house 1.5 Kochlöffel for its traditional inn atmosphere and authentic cooking in a traditional building.
The inn is run by the Falke family, who took over in 1997. Maximilian Falke leads the kitchen together with his brother-in-law Andreas Huber. The house itself is much older, with records of its first known owner, Balthasar Mayr, dating to 1674. Guests come for the Bavarian fare, and the kitchen also offers vegetarian dishes and a sweet course to finish.
The dining rooms suit both quiet dinners and larger occasions. The inn also rents event rooms for private and business gatherings, and the kitchen keeps the same hearty character for those. The bar serves a cold Helles, an Aperol Spritz or a glass of wine.
