The story
Landhotel Krone, at Hauptstraße 12 in Heitersheim, runs a seasonal French and Fusion kitchen, and the Michelin Guide listed it as Recommended in 2026. The restaurant sits inside a hotel that has served guests since 1618.
The kitchen works with produce from farms in the Markgräfler Land, bought by hand and prepared fresh each day. Asparagus from local fields appears in season, and the house smokes its own salmon. Chicken comes from a free-range farm in Heitersheim, cooked as coq au vin with polenta and onion confit.
The menu changes with the season. At the time of our reading, guests could choose a four-course Kronenmenü for €59, which rotates daily, or a six-course Feinmenü for €88. Single plates included halibut poached in tarragon oil with couscous and fennel for €39, and a flat iron steak sous vide and grilled, served with steakhouse fries, for €39. The meal ends with crème brûlée, served with chocolate ice cream and berries for €13.
The present building dates to a rebuild in 1777 and 1778, and its sandstone portal still carries the builders' initials and the date above the entrance. Dining takes place in the old stube rooms, where aged masonry and timber sit alongside steel and glass. The Schlemmer Atlas awarded the restaurant 2.5 Kochlöffel for 2026, praising its cozy historic rooms and a cuisine tied closely to local ingredients.
