The story
Landgasthof Zur Post at Zum See 10 in Grebenhain serves German country cooking in a village inn that carries a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026.
Sebastian Heil and his wife Katharina Koros are the hosts. Heil spent years in starred restaurants, and Koros brings her own broad culinary experience. Dishes are prepared à la minute, and the ingredients come mostly from the Vogelsberg region, bought from local butchers and farmers. The menu sets traditional dishes beside contemporary versions of them. The Schlemmer Atlas awarded 2 Kochlöffel in 2026 and singled out game from the inn's own hunting and inventive side dishes.
The inn has been in the same family since 1870 and is now run by the sixth generation. It began as a post station with a horse-changing stop, alongside a small butcher shop and a farm. The old house was torn down and rebuilt in 1976, and a small farm is still worked today.
In summer the shaded beer garden is the place to sit. The dining room holds about 70 guests, and a gallery beside the hall looks out over the village. Upstairs are four double rooms and one triple room in country-house style, each with a balcony, plus a holiday apartment for two to five people.
