Engels Ratskeller in Geldern: Lower Rhine Cooking at Markt 19

Engels Ratskeller sits on the market square at Markt 19 in Geldern, where the Engels family runs a Lower Rhine kitchen. The Schlemmer Atlas 2026 awarded the long-established restaurant one Kochlöffel.

Lower Rhine dishes and a daily wellness menu

The kitchen works with seasonal produce such as asparagus, fish, game and mussels, alongside international specialities and gourmet menus. Each day a lighter wellness menu offers a starter or soup, a main course and a dessert. Vegetarian options and a set lunch are also part of the offer.

Dining rooms and hotel rooms

The main restaurant seats up to 70 guests. The smaller Ratsstube holds about 26 and the Jagdzimmer about 16, both suited to family celebrations and meetings. Larger family and company events can take up to 120 guests. Guests can also dine on the terrace, and the hotel rooms in the centre of Geldern come with TV, a phone and a private bathroom.
