The story
Restaurant 1250 serves seasonal cuisine at Auf dem Falkenstein 1 in Pfronten, close to Füssen, and the name is also its altitude. The Michelin Guide listed it as Recommended in 2026.
The kitchen works with fresh regional products and takes familiar dishes in new directions. The menu has a Falkenstein Spezial section with duck gyoza, a Maultasche with Savoy cabbage and beurre blanc, and bao buns with pulled pork. The Allgäu Spezial section leans local, with veal Wiener Schnitzel and a cheek-and-blood-sausage plate with parsnip and jus. Schlemmer Atlas gave the restaurant 2.5 Kochlöffel in 2026.
Among the starters are salmon with ponzu, pumpkin, radish and yuzu, and a Winter Bowl 2.0 of beetroot, Jerusalem artichoke, cashew and wild mushrooms. Mains include saddle of venison with celery, cherry and milk gnocchi, and turbot on lentils with fennel and gnudi. Menü Blau gathers four of these plates into a single set menu, ending with mascarpone and pear.
Sweet dishes range from crème brûlée with Tahitian vanilla to Kaiserschmarren served in the pan (allow about 20 minutes). Ice cream is made in-house, and the sorbets come from the house manufactory. On the drinks side there is a 2016 Riesling Spätlese from Weingut Markus Molitor on the Mosel, and spirits from Destillerie Bretzger in Swabia. Breakfast buffet runs from 8 to 10 and is open to non-residents for 35 euros per person.
