The story
Aschbacher Hof, at Aschbach 3 in Feldkirchen-Westerham, is a family-run country hotel serving Bavarian cooking, and the Michelin Guide gave it a Bib Gourmand in 2026 for good quality at fair prices.
Chef Heiko Obermaier runs the kitchen. On Sundays and public holidays he writes an individual menu each morning and posts it on the restaurant's website. The Schlemmer Atlas gave the house 2.5 Kochlöffel in 2026 and points to refined Bavarian specialties, tasting menus and homemade cakes.
The seasonal autumn and winter menus show the range. Braised beef shoulder comes with Madeira jus and chive mash, and a portion of Bavarian Lugeder farm duck arrives with apple red cabbage and a potato dumpling. Venison steaks are served with juniper cream and Topfenspätzle. Bread comes with herb quark and apple crackling dripping, and the Aschbacher tiramisu is served in a glass.
The Lechner family has run the house for five generations. The rooms are wood-paneled, and the terrace looks toward the mountains of the pre-Alpine landscape. The wine list leans on Franconian whites from Weingut Ernst Popp and the Pfalz, with Champagne for those who want it.
