The story
Capobianco Ristorante at Rottstr. 7 in Essen runs an Italian kitchen with Mediterranean and fusion influences, and the Schlemmer Atlas 2026 gave it 1.5 Kochlöffel. The restaurant sits in the heart of the inner city and is open daily with warm kitchen service from noon to midnight.
Lunch and dinner come with a free choice from the menu, and the house-made pasta is the anchor. Pizza sits alongside fresh fish and meat dishes. The Schlemmer Atlas highlighted seafood, linguine and truffled beef tartare among the favourites from the Bella Italia repertoire.
Larger cuts stand out on the menu. A tomahawk steak of 1 to 1.4 kg starts at 99 euros, and an Argentinian rump steak comes on rocket salad with parmesan for 26.90 euros. For starters, the small plates include olives, dried tomatoes, Parma ham and artichokes a la Romana.
The dining room is lively and colourfully decorated, and the gallery on the restaurant's site shows it in use. Coffee is roasted in-house, and the wine and beer selection is built around football champions. Orders from 70 euros include a dessert or a bottle of wine, and delivery reaches up to 10 km.
