The story
Anneliese is a European restaurant at Petzelsberg 10 in Essen, and Der Feinschmecker gave it 2.5 in 2026. With only 18 seats, the evening feels more like a private dinner than a restaurant service.
Sascha Nick draws on many kitchens and does not commit to one tradition. His Königsberger Klopse are made with veal from milk-fed calves and taste more refined than the name suggests. A river perch dish turns Nordic, built on blueberries, forest mushrooms and game jus, with notes of spruce and charcoal from a tour of Finland's Oulanka national park.
Each menu is named after a rock or pop song, and the dishes change often. The room is deliberately plain, with modern art and design objects breaking up the walls. Kristina Weinem, the host, recommends from an international selection of about 70 wines. Cannelloni of turbot and prawn shows another side of the kitchen.
