The story
Troyka at Rurstraße 19 in Erkelenz holds one Michelin star (2026) for its Russian crossover cuisine, a style that also draws on French and modern cooking. The name means "three-horse team" in Russian, and three people share the work.
Alexander Wulf and Marcel Kokot cook, and Ronny Schreiber runs the wine. The gourmet menu draws on Wulf's childhood memories of Russia. Der Feinschmecker (3.5 in 2026) says the trio invented "Russian Crossover Cuisine" and notes that classics serve only as a guideline, with an unexpected twist in each dish. A small bistro menu sits alongside the tasting menu.
Langostino comes with a beetroot Moscow Mule, which adds earthiness. Salt-meadow lamb is paired with pilzmeni, porcini ravioli. The vegetarian menu keeps the Russian thread with salat Olivier, borscht with beluga lentils and a kimchi rose. Vegetarian and vegan menus are available on advance order.
Schreiber's list runs past 700 positions. Beyond the classic wine countries it includes bottles from Russia, Armenia and Turkey, and a wine pairing is offered with the menu. The large dining room has floor-to-ceiling windows, and a monitor shows the kitchen's mise en place through the pass-cam. Troyka also runs cooking courses and wine workshops.
