The story
Zur Krone is a family-run Badische inn at Mussbach 6, Freiamt, and it holds a 2026 Michelin Bib Gourmand for good-quality, good-value cooking. The menu follows the calendar, so the plate changes from one month to the next.
Lobster is offered on pre-order until the end of March. Lamb carré appears in March and April, and an Easter menu with lamb follows in April. Asparagus arrives in April and stays on in May, when the kitchen also serves a Gizzi menu. Special menus are taken by telephone reservation.
The kitchen describes a broad range that runs from house-made Schlachtplatte to roast goose, chosen to suit the time of year. In the Schlemmer Atlas for 2026, the inn earned 2.5 Kochlöffel, with dishes described as seasonal, whether traditional or more creative.
The Gasthaus is run by the Kern family, and its hospitality traditions date back to the 18th century. Accommodation is available on site, so the inn works as both a table and a place to stay.
