The story
Erlebnis-Restaurant Lutherstuben in Eisenach, Germany, is a regional German restaurant at Katharinenstr. 13 in the 99817 postcode, inside the Eisenacher Hof hotel. The Schlemmer Atlas awarded it 1 Kochlöffel in 2026 for evenings built around multi-course medieval-style feasts.
The centrepiece is the Lutherschmaus, a buffet-style feast. The meal opens with salad and a meat or potato soup, followed by meat roasted on a long spit with paprika and onions. Potato wedges, spätzle, sauerkraut and creamed savoy cabbage sit in bowls on the table, so guests help themselves. Dessert is a flambéed fruit skewer or a baked apple with vanilla sauce. Set menus and grill buffets are also available on pre-order, and the set menus are recommended for groups of 10 or more.
Hundreds of candles light the dining room, and straw covers the floor. Wagon wheels hang from the ceiling above dark wooden tables. Up to 170 guests can be seated, and a round table for 16 sits by the fireplace in the entrance area. Between courses, costumed staff and actors bring toasts, table speeches and games to the tables. Food is prepared in an open kitchen in view of the guests. The venue lists wheelchair access among its features.
