The story
Yoshi by Nagaya serves Japanese cuisine at Kreuzstraße 17 in Düsseldorf, and the restaurant holds one Michelin star (2026). It is the smaller sister of the Nagaya flagship, and its menu stays focused on omakase, sushi and warm courses served at the counter.
Yoshizumi Nagaya trained under Toshiro Kandagawa in Osaka and under Takada Hasho in Gifu. His approach combines Japanese purism with European haute cuisine technique. The omakase, which means "I leave it up to you," comes as a full menu for 198 € or as a shorter version for 178 €.
Sushi and sashimi are served alongside warm courses seasoned with dashi, yuzu or ponzu. Der Feinschmecker names the lightly grilled Wagyu filet as a long-standing classic on the menu. The kitchen aims for balance between texture, temperature and umami. Guests with allergies should tell the service team in advance, and purely vegan or fish-free menus are not offered.
The dining room is simple and quiet, with a counter that looks into the open kitchen. Schlemmer Atlas awards it 3 Kochlöffel for exclusive Japanese fine dining. The wine list focuses on German and French bottles, and the sake selection adds aromatic depth to the meal.
