The story
Bistro Fatal is a French bistro at Hermannstraße 29 in Düsseldorf, Germany, and the Schlemmer Atlas gave it 2.5 Kochlöffel for 2026. The menu runs from oysters and snails to classic bistro mains and chocolate desserts, with the kitchen's French roots evident throughout.
The Schlemmer Atlas credits the cooking to Alexandre Bourgueil, son of Jean Claude Bourgueil. The guide describes a bright, charming room where Francophile guests order pot-au-feu, boudin noir and chocolate soufflé. Michelin lists the restaurant as Recommended for 2026.
The "toi & moi" format offers three courses of your choice for 70 euros per person, or 60 euros for the vegetarian version. Diners build their meal from an entrée, a plat and a dessert, and dishes that belong to the set carry a heart on the menu. Every guest at a table must choose the same way, either the set or à la carte, so the kitchen and service stay in step. Dishes on the current card include Burgundy snails with quail egg and herb butter, cod with saffron and fennel, and Australian prime bavette steak frites with béarnaise. For dessert there is crêpes Suzette, a chocolate marquise with berry coulis, and a soufflé au chocolat.
The restaurant has outdoor seating. Oysters are a fixture of the classic section, served as a single Gillardeau No. 3 or as a platter of six. A bistro in this style suits a long dinner, and the menu's pacing is built around sharing a table.
