The story
Torschänke in Dudeldorf serves country cooking with Mediterranean influences at Philippsheimer Straße 1, 54647 Dudeldorf, and was listed as Michelin Recommended for 2026. The restaurant stands directly beside the 14th-century city gate in this Eifel town.
Alexander Ettlinger leads the kitchen as chef de cuisine, with Viktor Arnold as sous chef. The team sources regional ingredients whenever possible and knows its suppliers personally. Classic dishes are reinterpreted with a modern hand, and the menu shifts with the seasons.
Recent menus have included carpaccio of sous vide scallop and lobster with parsnip, orange and fennel, and filet of skrei in a potato crust with beurre blanc. Roast duck breast comes with a chorizo and pearl barley risotto and port wine jus. Dessert might be a mille feuille of strudel pastry, white chocolate, banana and cinnamon. Vegetarian guests receive full courses too, such as buckwheat salad with cucumber and radish gazpacho, or risotto arancini in a sesame coat.
Simon Berhard and Kilian Rau have run the house since March 2020, continuing the tradition set by Petra and Josef Cillien. The dining rooms, called Torzimmer, Speisezimmer and Gaststube, feel closer to a living room than a formal dining room. Schlemmer Atlas awarded the restaurant two Kochlöffel for 2026, praising its stylish historic rooms for both small and large groups. The wine list covers regional and international bottles, and multi-course menus can be paired with wine.
