The story
Haus Stockhorst in Bocholt is a Westphalian restaurant at Hauptstr. 38, 46414 Rhede, and the Schlemmer Atlas gave it 1,5 Kochlöffel in 2026. The house has stood here since 1908, and it still cooks the regional classics that country inns are known for.
The Westphalian wedding soup arrives with egg custard, small dumplings and cauliflower. Among the mains are crisp pork or chicken schnitzel, ox cheek with its own jus and potato gratin, and Oma's boiled beef with homemade remoulade. Münsterländer heifer, in cuts such as entrecôte and fillet, is finished on an 800° grill. The Schlemmer Atlas describes the kitchen as a safe bet for those who want to celebrate in style.
The vegetarian and vegan section is a real part of the card. There is a lentil roast with tomato sugo, a vegetable schnitzel with basil pesto and hummus, and three baked sushi balls. For dessert, the Herrencreme with cream and chocolate is on offer, or egg liqueur ice cream.
A large terrace hosts coffee, cake and fresh waffles, and cyclists can charge e-bikes on site. On Sundays and public holidays, the kitchen offers a changing lunch menu or a three-course menu for 29 €. Afternoons bring waffles, house-baked cake and apple strudel.
