The story
Restaurant Alvis is a German kitchen at Albrechtstr. 8, 10117 Berlin, a short walk from Friedrichstraße station. The Schlemmer Atlas awarded it 1,5 Kochlöffel in 2026, praising a clever take on German cuisine that brings quail, entrecôte and French cheese onto the same menu.
The kitchen builds its dishes from regional produce from Berlin and Brandenburg, with international influences added to traditional recipes. Chefs Andreas Vogel and Philipp Kanow write a new three-course menu each month, priced at 41 € per person, with a two-course version at 35 €. Seasonal ingredients drive the changes, so asparagus, chanterelles and game appear at different times of the year.
The business lunch runs Monday to Saturday from 12:00 to 15:00, with a daily main and soup for 13 €. A "Suppe satt" option offers two soups, served as much as you like, for 7 €. On Sundays a brunch buffet of seasonal and regional dishes runs for 35 € per person, from hearty classics to sweet dishes, and it pauses in July and August.
The main dining room has a large window front and a wooden buffet, and daylight fills the space. The Bischofsecke is a separate corner with a quieter, more private feel, overlooking the Hofgarten. That garden is a courtyard framed by ivy, where tables go outside in summer. Across the street, the rooftop Skybar on the Hotel Allegra opens on fine days from May to October.
