The story
POTS, at Potsdamer Platz 3 in Berlin, is a modern German restaurant inside The Ritz-Carlton, and Der Feinschmecker gave it a rating of 3 in 2026. The menu reworks German classics with a contemporary hand, offered as a set menu, à la carte, or a surprise menu.
Head chef Ferdinand Kretz previously worked at AURA in Wirsberg, under Alexander Herrmann and Tobias Bätz. He now leads the kitchen alongside Lukas Bachl, who earlier drew attention at Slate in Berlin. Produce comes largely from the surrounding area, and the cooking carries touches from southern Germany.
Maultaschen are filled with mushrooms and herbs and served with porcini ragout, roasted onion and bay leaf mayonnaise. Onion broth is poured over them at the table. In autumn, venison loin arrives with parsnip, blackberries, Black Forest ham and black garlic, under a jus finished with chocolate and absinthe. Lunch dishes are available alongside the evening menus.
The open kitchen gives the dining room a cheerful hum, and the mood stays stylishly relaxed. Hostess Selina Gröflin oversees the room. The wine list holds around 250 selections, with German wines, Bordeaux and Burgundy, natural wines, and Bassermann-Jordan's Pithium, aged in amphorae.
