The story
Jäger & Lustig serves German, seasonal cooking at Grünberger Straße 1 in Berlin-Friedrichshain, and the Michelin Guide listed it as Recommended in 2026. The kitchen works under the motto "Lecker, regional, hausgemacht" (tasty, regional, homemade).
The team reinterprets classic German dishes with seasonal, regional produce. The menu includes homemade Bouletten, Jägerbrote made with Altberliner sourdough, larded beef rouladen and Brandenburg mustard eggs. Roasted vegetable goulash and a juicy Eisbein appear on the restaurant's own description of its food. The Schlemmer Atlas gave it 2 Kochlöffel in 2026 and singled out Königsberg meatballs, veal cheeks and Berlin-style liver.
Inside, the Bierstube is dressed in hunting green and plenty of wood, with leaded Butzenfenster windows and a Berlin-parlour feel. Outside, the natural beer garden sits in the middle of the Kiez. Haake-Beck Kräusen, poured exclusively here in Berlin, comes with a homemade pretzel. Spaten is paired with Spreewald Bauernsülze (a jellied farmhouse terrine). The house wine comes from the Durchbach winery.
Plain wooden tables suit a business lunch, and long tables fit larger groups. Vegetarian dishes are on the menu alongside the meat, and the restaurant lists vegan options too. The kitchen closes at 22:00, and the doors stay open until midnight.
