The story
Gutshaus Kubbelkow serves Mediterranean and international cooking at Im Dorfe 8 in Klein Kubbelkow, Bergen auf Rügen. The Michelin Guide lists it as Recommended for 2026.
The kitchen works from a deliberately small card that changes daily. Fish, game, meat, cheese, fruit and vegetables come from producers in Vorpommern, and the house adds its own herbs and spices. The style moves between avant-garde, Mediterranean, French classic and hearty regional cooking. Guests pick three, four or six courses from a six-course menu. Schlemmer Atlas awarded the kitchen 2 Kochlöffel in 2026.
The villa-style house dates from 1907, when the Rostock architect Friedrich Wagner designed it as a summer house for the von Barnekow family. The Diembeck family bought house and park in 2002. Working with the heritage authorities, they restored both close to their original state. Schlemmer Atlas describes a family-run, heritage-listed manor with a grand, historic atmosphere.
The wine list covers growing regions around the world, and the house suggests a wine to accompany each menu. Dinner here fits the manor's slow pace, with a small card, a few courses and a glass chosen to match.
